Sennebogen launch new 608 MultiCrane! 26 May
2008
Recently launched the Sennebogen 608 MultiCrane
is truly a unique machine. Its innovative design brings to the
work place a flexible solution offering a wide range of
equipment including an 8 ton capacity crane winch, crane boom,
telescopic jib, lifting work platform and bucket. The hydraulic
quick changing system enables equipment to be changed in record
time.
With its compact dimensions (4.86 metres long x 2.55 metres wide
x 3.0 metres high) this high performance machine is fast and
manoeuvrable throughout all working environments, including
Construction, Rail and Petrochemical.
The all wheel drive and all wheel steering system has three
different modes, including front wheel steer, all wheel steer
and crab steer.
A key contributor to the machines effectiveness is the
comfortable cab which can be raised higher than four metres. The
operator feels immediately at home and with the cab in the
raised position the operator’s visibility is excellent providing
all round visibility and enhanced safety.
The 608 MultiCrane is a cost effective multi-purpose machine
providing a single machine to undertake multi-tasks as opposed
to the use of two or more machines on the job site.
The 1st 608 Multi Crane is operational in Scotland.
The first 608 Multicrane has been delivered by E H Hassell for a
project on the new Kincardine Bridge, Scotland. To be officially
opened this year Kincardine is the preferred new route for the
Forth crossing. Announced in 2002 the project was awarded as
part of a joint venture to one of the UK’s leading provider of
infrastructure services Morgan Est and French company, Vinci
Grand Projet.
The bridge starts from Bowtrees roundabout at the end of the
M876 and is over 1km in length. Crossing the river as a wide
single carriageway, it passes through disused coal yards of the
old Power Station site, through adjoining farmland before again
joining the A977 in a double roundabout junction at Gartarry.
The new 608 machine has been hired out to Morgan Est who are
utilising the machine specifically to lay concrete edge
protection sections on the bridge deck. Weighing in at 3.2
tonnes each these sections are easily handled by the robust
machine. The highly manoeuvrable Sennebogen 608 operates
efficiently and safely within any environment providing Morgan
Est with a reliable, cost effective multi-purpose machine.
Donald Steele, Mechanical Plant
Manager, commented “This is a truly remarkable piece of
equipment, and an all round winner in every task it has been
required to do. With the flexibility of a mobile crane, the
agility of a telehandler and the mobility of a mobile work
platform, it gives the site tremendous scope for multi tasking
with one machine”
